A captain of a military submarine sailing deep down in the sea commits suicide on the brink of world war after giving a final order to launch a nuclear missile. A commander left in charge of the submarine knows that he has the duty to notify the crew members about the suicide but starts to suffocate under unbearable pressure, as he slowly realizes that they might no longer have a home” to return to.
From an insurance employee I” visits a space city where only automatized factories are running in <Day of the Titan> to a cop who partners with a humanoid detective who does not sleep, rests, or makes mistakes in <made in heaven>, the book collects seven futuristic and powerful stories that freely crosses the boundary of time from present to future, satirizing the crowd of people who operate like a cogwheel inside a system. The stories unravel grave themes with humor and pose questions of social morality which are forgotten amidst the unnecessarily fast development of technology.

Im Seongsun
Im Seongsun debuted in 2010 with his book Consultant, for which he received the Segye Literary Award. His other novels include Mun Geunyeong Is Dangerous, On the Contrary Amicable People Live Here, At the Extreme, The Book of Self-Improvement, and Ouroboros. He also published a collection of his essays, Obsoletely, Uselessly. In 2018, he received the ninth Young Writer’s Award for his short story “A Flock of Sheep Roaming the Corridor and Their Predators.”
