Overview

Birds can fly over borders, and fish can swim across borders, but not people. This book lets you see the world through the borders

Book Intro

Borders

Birds can fly over borders, and fish can swim across borders, but not people. One can see the relationship of the countries that share the borders by looking at the type of border they have: some countries do away with the borders, some make them easily accessible, or some build high walls around the borders to block people out. Even the high walled borders cannot stop birds flying over them, and the Internet connects people regardless of the borders. From ages ago, people have crossed borders for different reasons—students pursuing their studies, workers looking for jobs, travelers hoping to discover something new and different, and refugees looking for shelter. In this global community where everyone’s life is connected to others, we need to think about what borders should look like now. In this book, young readers can see different borders, some stunningly beautiful, and they can contemplate their place in this world and their relationship with others.
