The times of our childhood when we thought we could be a Superman with our mother’s red cape wrapped around our shoulder, when we thought we could fly, riding on a small balloon—all those hours came together for us to live as a grown-up, going after our dream. There is no grown-up who has lived only adulthood. _Lee Doo-heon, composer and songwriter, guitarist of Five Fingers
As I was illustrating this book, my mother’s smiling face came to my mind. And I found myself questioning, "Whose dream am I cheering for?" _Choi Eun-yeung, Illustrator of Children’s books
Since its release in 1986, the song, "Balloon." by the music band, Five Fingers was much loved for its lively melody and refreshing lyrics and now the words are published as the second book in the series of Changbi Illustrated Book of Lyrics. Although thirty-three years have passed, the pure and childlike lyrics now serve as the words of a picture book and convey fresh sensibility. It is a book that the whole family can appreciate in that the grown-ups will recollect the memories of childhood, whereas it will instill hope in children and the dream of a future. The last page climaxes with the yellow balloon flying, high up in the sky, as created in a beautiful and colorful palette. The picture of the children running together, which appears in the story of the book, makes readers envision the bright moments that they will come to encounter in their lives.
Changbi Publishing will publish the "Changbi Illustrated Book of Lyrics Series" which will combine beautifully written lyrics of Korean songs illustrated with drawings. Diverse members of the family with different generations can read and enjoy the book.
If we cherish the memory of our childhood and revive the vivid yellow balloon in our mind, then the genuine communications between generations will be possible like the last scene of this picture book. The rights to the lyrics of this song is managed by the Copyright Management Bureau Documentation.
