After having worked as a scientist making biosensors, the author now writes novels. This is the first collection of short stories by a newcomer who has constantly questioned the boundaries between the normal and the abnormal, success and failure, and mainstream and non-mainstream. It feels as if it would exist somewhere but doesn't, and it depicts a world of imagination with a unique atmosphere as if it could be grasped in the hand.
“Why Don't Pilgrims Return?” paints a future where 'perfect' gene selection is possible, and those who do not belong in the category of perfection are pushed out of bounds. A grandmother scientist struggles to reunite with her family in a distant universe. “If We Cannot Move at the Speed of Light” tells the story of hate toward unreasonable boundaries and longing for a family beyond the vast universe. The author has created stories we want to read and share together in a way that we can imagine places we can't reach.

Le meilleur recueil de nouvelles de science-fiction de Kim Cho-Yeop. Contenant deux nouvelles qui ont obtenu le Grand Prix littéraire de la SF coréenne et la mention honorable, ce recueil s’est vendu à plus de 100 000 exemplaires en 2020 et il s’est classé sur la liste des best-sellers SF.
La première œuvre, Mémoire cachée a attiré beaucoup d’attention des critiques en recevant un tel commentaire : “Je suis déjà vraiment content(e) que cette jeune auteure ait choisi ce chemin difficile au lieu de choisir la maternité, mais une scène qui nous attend au bout de ce livre, elle est encore plus manifique en tant que science-fiction. Ce livre m’a fait envie de protester que nous sommes pas si paresseux au point de ne pas pouvoir découvrir cette œuvre formidable.
C’est ainsi que la jeune coréenne a pu publier son premier recueil de nouvelles, celles qui ont été présentées dans plusieurs revues telles que Littérature moderne, Littérature 3 et Epi. Ce n’est pas banal pour des romanciers de publier son propre recueil un an après son début.

Kim Cho Yeop
(English) Born in the February of 1993, Kim ChoYeop is a Korean novelist. She has majored in chemistry and earned a master's degree in biochemistry at Pohang University of Science. She mostly writes science fictions. She made her literary debut by winning the grand prize for the second Korean Science and Literature Awards with Irretrievable and If We Can't Go at the Speed of Light, with which she won won the 43rd Today's Writer Award in 2019, as well. As of June 2021, more than 200,000 copies of this book were sold, making her a best-selling author with the very first publishing experience.
In 2020, she won the 11th Young Writer Award with Cognitive Space, which was published in an SF literary magazine, or bookazine, Today's SF.
(French) Kim Cho-Yeop est écrivaine sud-coréenne, titulaire d’une licence en chimie et d’un master en biochimie de l’Université des sciences et technologies de Pohang. En général, elle écrit de la science-fiction.
En 2017, elle a remporté à la fois le Grand Prix littéraire de la SF coréenne dans la catégorie “romans court et nouvelles” et la mention honnorable avec ses œuvres intitulées Mémoire cachée et Si nous pouvions pas aller à la vitesse de la lumière. En 2019, la romancière est devenue 43e lauréate du prix de nouvel esprit littéraire avec son roman Si nous pouvions pas aller à la vitesse de la lumière. En particulier, son nombre d’exemplaires vendus a atteint 200 000. Avec un tel succès, la romancière est devenue l’auteure de best-sellers grâce à son premier recueil de nouvelles. En 2020, elle a reçu le Prix du jeune écrivain pour sa nouvelle intitulé Espace cognitif publiée sur La Science-Fiction d’aujourd’hui, le magazine de la SF.
(Indonesian) Seorang novelis, lahir pada tahun 1993. Ia mengambil jurusan ilmu kimia dan memperoleh gelar master dalam bidang biokimia di POSTECH. Ia lebih menikmati perjalanan waktu atau membayangkan hal-hal baru di depan monitor daripada belajar. Pada tahun 2017, Ia mulai aktif berkarya setelah memenangkan penghargaan utama dan runner-up dari Penghargaan Sains dan Sastra Korea ke-2 untuk 「Kehilangan di Dalam Gedung」 dan 「Jika Kita Tidak Bisa Pergi dengan Kecepatan Cahaya」.
