Overview

This book is a photo essay that catches glimpses of the lives of people who silently do their parts in everyday life.

Book Intro

The author has compiled artistic photos and poems that capture candid aspects of our neighbors around us. This work is composed of four main categories: “From behind,” “Hands,” “Bamgol village (shanty town),” and “On the road.” Each story conveys deeply moving experiences. The author has discovered the true nature of the world, such as the emotions that people have forgotten due to their busy lives, the little things that make us happy but have been left behind, the bitter lives of the disadvantaged, and sincerity that quiets lies and helps us realize the truth.

Through the calm yet powerful photographs and the writings filled with cutting remarks, bloggers who dearly value the author are able to enjoy experiencing the lives of others and will be left in awe and admiration.

About the Author

Choi Philjo

Choi Philjo teaches students at an elementary school. What began as photographing children presented him with another life as a photographer. Selected as Power Blogger of the Year in Naver's Photography category from 2012 to 2014, Choi currently runs the Choi Philjo Photo Album, to which many famous bloggers have subscribed. As a native country boy, Choi escapes the city on weekends to travel to the countryside. The stories of the people he meets in each region are told through his photos and writings, which he diligently organizes in his spare time. Choi filmed the last five years of Sadang-dong’s Bamgol village until it was demolished in 2016. Filmed in that location, his work titled “Sunhee in Bamgol Village” made it to the final round (the final 10) of the 2016 Onbit Photo Awards. Choi says that his life as a teacher and his life as a photographer are not that different.
