The author holds a doctorate degree in Pungmul research and is also a conductor for a Pungmul band. The author traveled around the country’s Pungmul sites and met various Pungmul conductors with whom we conversed about the change, development, growth, and evolution of the Pungmul culture in the 20th-21st century. In particular, he focuses on the artistic characteristics of Pungmul, its conductors, and their future as a culture and music genre. He also covers their meaning and prospective in Korean society.
This book includes interviews with 10 of the 25 Pungmul conductors this author met across the country, as well as his discourse on “The Dynamics and Variety of the 21st Century’s Pungmul Good Sites.”

Jo Chunyeong
Jo Chunyeong earned his MA and PhD in eastern philosophy. Jo currently works as a visiting professor at Sungkyunkwan University, researching Pungmul and traditional performance art as a whole. He believes in the importance of the site in which the artistic performance is held and claims to be a Pungmul critic. Jo is also a member of the Korean Pungmul Good research association, researchers in the Nongak field, and the Korea traditional music research center.
He wrote Pungmul Good, oh OUR GOOD (Not for sale), Principle and Aesthetics of Pungmul Good, Gil Good to Reach New Country and co-authored Pungmul Good Research, Korean Wave and Korean Ideology, Interpretation on Nongak Field, Continuation of Invisible Cultural Heritage, and various other books.
