Overview

This book tells a story about a man who falls to the ground repeatedly but keeps getting back up by himself. It highlights the getting-back-up, not the losing-and-falling-to-the-ground.

Book Intro

(Russian)

(English) Guard Up

Guard Up is the story of a guy who keeps getting knocked down. But it's also the story of a guy who gets back to his feet on his own.

A boxing match begins between two main characters, the Red Fist and the Black Fist. The Red Fist, who was confident before the match, is knocked down by his opponent’s powerful attack. He regains his feet and raises his guard to block the Black Fist’s punch, but he gets knocked down again.

Like a boxer knocked down in the ring, failure and frustration are natural parts of life. The acts of getting knocked down and regaining one's feet are just like the struggles of people living their lives. The act of raising his guard to protect himself and deflect the opponent’s attack is like the desire to exist through his own will, which we can call his attitude towards life. Until the last gong rings, what matters is not "how many times have you been knocked down?" but "how did you manage to get back on your feet?"
