Dokkaebi, tvN's widely-acclaimed television drama, has been published as a novel, containing all of its heart-breaking story, unexpected twists, warm messages, and heart-wrenching dialogue. The show was hailed by many for its dense, charming narrative and an extensive cast of characters, encompassing the birth of Dokkaebi, the historical background of his birth, the previous and present life of Dokkaebi, Dokkaebi's bride, and the angel of death. Furthermore, it told a multi-layer story of relationships, fate, will, choice, and life and death.
This novelization tells screenwriter Kim Eun-sook's original story over two volumes. The novel features untold stories of characters from the hit television drama and adds Kim's unique sense of emotionally-charged dialogue and vivid character depictions. This new take on Dokkaebi's multi-dimensional story gives readers a different perspective on the drama, as well as the pleasure of sitting down to read an engaging novel.

(English) Kim Eun-sook, original author of Dokkaebi, is a TV drama writer who graduated from the Seoul Institute of Arts with a degree in Creative Writing. Starting from the SBS special drama South Of the Sun, Kim has created TV dramas that gained huge popularity for their own unique set-ups and vivid characters, including the Lovers Trilogy (Lovers in Paris, Lovers in Prague, and Lovers), On Air, The City Hall, Secret Garden, A Gentleman's Dignity, The Heirs, Descendants of the Sun and Mr. Sunshine. Kim received the TV Screenwriting Award at the Baeksang Arts Awards in 2005 and 2011. In 2016, she won the Writer's Award at the KBS Drama Awards and the President's Award at the Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards.
