Overview

This series instills interest in science by asking strange and quirky questions about the various scientific phenomena experienced in everyday life.

Book Intro

Using questions that stimulate children's curiosity as a starting point and based on elementary-level science curricula, the Science Is Easy! series of books are perfect for elementary and middle school students. The books instill scientific interest by asking strange and quirky questions about the various scientific phenomena experienced in everyday life. Clear answers are provided based on knowledge from elementary science textbooks.

Does the weather control us? Is there wind and rain on the moon? Why are there monsoons every summer? Volume 1 covers weather phenomena and abnormal weather. It begins with questions about natural phenomena familiar to children and explains difficult and complex scientific concepts and principles. It informs readers about the intertwined nature of science and humanity, as well as why scientific knowledge is important, by presenting scientific causes and effects in both major and minor aspects of life.

Volume 2 deals with the meaning and significance of biological classification. It meticulously covers what children should know about the classification of organisms, from the definition of species, basic units of classification, to methods for observing and classifying commonalities and differences in plants and animals. Included is a section on the development of biological classification by Carl Linnaeus, the father of taxonomy. The book also explains why we need to know about the concept of classification. It makes clear that the real purpose of biological classification lies in the conservation of biodiversity through examples of animals that became extinct due to human action.

Volume 3 explores human anatomy and the functions of each organ. It explains the structures and functions of various organs in an easy to understand way, starting with cells, the basic unit of living organisms, and moving on to the digestive, respiratory, circulatory, excretory, locomotive, sensory, and reproductive organs, as well as the brain and nervous system. Readers can learn about how scientific and systematic our bodies are through comparisons to the most complex and elaborate machines, such as automobiles, airplanes, and spacecraft.

Future volumes are planned to cover light, electricity, magnetism, gravity, and crustal movements.
