Overview

This is a beautiful and fantastic story about memory and choice.

Book Intro

Moonlit Restaurant is a fantasy tale about a restaurant where patrons pay for food with bad memories. The mysterious and charming characters and unique setting of a restaurant where delicious food is paid for with bad memories stimulate curiosity in readers. Yeon-wu, the protagonist, eats a delicious custard pudding topped with chocolate syrup. Suddenly, his bad memory is gone. He's left wondering what the bad memory was in the first place. Would we really be happy if we no longer had bad memories? This cerebral subject matter is handled deftly through a flowing narrative and unexpected twist that young readers will find enchanting.

Moonlit Restaurant, run by a pair of foxes, draws in passers-by with a sweet aroma. The story is vivid and intense enough to stimulate all the senses. Readers will be able to see themselves in Yeon-wu's shoes, wondering which bad memory they would use as currency to eat at Moonlit Restaurant. This heartwarming story of food and memories will give young readers an opportunity to look inside themselves.
