The First Love of a Memory Hunter

* Serendipitous Reunion *

Jihan, a 25-year-old man, is a memory hunter who erases his clients' memories. Ironically, he does not remember his own childhood prior to age 15 when he became a memory hunter himself. One day, he serendipitously makes eye contact with Youngsun who remembers Jihan's childhood. Curious about his own past, Jihan realizes that Youngsun's memories are partially lost. How did she lose them? Did she commission another memory hunter? Apprehensive, Jihan reaches out to his mentor who trained him into a memory hunter. Jihan seeks to recover his own memories from his childhood. 

* Key to the Truth *

After meeting with his mentor, Jihan inadvertently steals the mentor's memory screen that holds the mentor's memories. Accessing the mentor's memory, Jihan learns that he himself erased Youngsun's memory. Jihan seeks to rectify his mistake. However, Youngsun becomes suspicious of Jihan, who wants to show her something that she would like to know, and responds with the perplexing remark, "I'd like to recover something I lost." Jihan realizes that the loss cannot be compensated for by anything else but her lost memory itself.

* Returned Memory Screen * 

Jihan recovers Youngsun's lost memory screen at the elementary school they attended together. What Jihan erased was Youngsun's happy memories of her deceased father. Jihan becomes dejected that he cannot return Youngsun's precious memories. Meanwhile, Jihan learns that his mentor deceived him and stole his childhood memories. His ill motivation was related to a man named Chansoo who appeared in his mentor's memory screen. Chansoo was Youngsun's father and another memory hunter whom the mentor attempted to make his disciple before he approached Jihan. 

* Lost Memory of First Love *

Chansoo, thought to be deceased, was found hospitalized in a hospice facility. Jihan brought Youngsun's father to her. However, Youngsun, who has already lost her memories, isn't able to fully process this. Soon, Jihan learns from Chansoo what wrongdoings his mentor has committed. Jihan seeks revenge on his mentor who ruined his life and Youngsun's family. He resolves to return Youngsun's memories of her father and reclaim his lost first love. 

*우연한 재회**

스물다섯 살 지한은 타인의 기억을 지워주는 기억거래자다. 열다섯 살 무렵 기억거래자가 된 뒤로 그는 어린 시절을 기억하지 못한다. 어느 날, 그는 어린 시절의 자신을 기억하는 한 여자, 영선과 우연히 눈을 마주친다. 자신을 기억하는 그녀의 정체가 궁금해 자꾸만 그녀를 지켜보다 그녀가 기억을 일부 잃었다는 것을 알게 된다. 그녀의 기억은 왜 사라진 걸까? 설마 다른 기억거래자와 거래를 했던 걸까? 초조해진 그는 자신을 기억거래자로 만든 스승에게서 열다섯 살 이전의 기억을 되찾기로 한다. 

*진실의 열쇠**

스승과 만난 지한은 엉겁결에 자신의 기억이 담긴 스승의 기억스크린을 훔치고 만다. 스승의 기억을 읽은 그는 충격에 휩싸인다. 영선의 기억을 지운 것은…… 다름 아닌 어린 시절의 자신이었다. 그는 서둘러 실수를 만회하고자 한다. 그러나 영선은 다짜고짜 원하는 걸 들어주겠다는 그를 의심한다. ‘잃어버린 걸 되찾고 싶은데?’라며 의미심장한 물음을 남길 뿐이다. 그는 다른 무언가로 보상할 수 없다는 것을, 영선의 기억을 온전히 되돌려줘야만 한다는 것을 깨닫는다.

*되찾은 기억스크린**

두 사람은 함께 다닌 초등학교에서 잃어버린 영선의 기억스크린을 발견한다. 지한이 영선에게서 지운 것은 죽은 아빠와의 행복했던 기억. 지한은 영선에게 소중한 기억을 돌려줄 수 없다는 사실에 좌절한다.

한편, 그는 스승이 자신을 속여 어린 시절의 기억을 강탈했다는 것을 알게 된다. 그 이유는 스승의 기억스크린에 기록되어 있는 ‘어떤 남자’ 찬수와 연관되어 있다. 찬수는 영선의 아버지이자, 스승이 지한보다 먼저 제자로 삼으려고 했던 또 다른 기억거래자였다. 

*잃어버린 첫사랑의 기억**

죽은 줄 알았던 찬수는 한 호스피스 병원에 있었다. 영선에게 아빠를 되찾아주는 지한. 그러나 기억이 없는 영선은 살아있는 아빠를 보고도 실감하지 못한다. 이윽고 지한은 찬수에게서 스승이 저지른 악행을 전해 듣는다.

지한은 자신의 삶과 영선의 가족을 망가뜨린 스승에게 복수하기로 마음먹는다. 그리고 모든 것을 걸고서라도 영선에게 행복했던 아빠와의 기억을 돌려주겠다고, 자신의 잃어버린 첫사랑을 되찾겠다고 결심한다.
