(English) The Identity of the Black Pencil
New pencil, who are you? Today, once again, it’s bustling inside the pencil case with a new incident.
The first story begins with the black pencil that had previously lived only inside Damy’s art bag coming to stay a few days in the pencil case. The pencils are wary of and curious about the new pencil, but they soon greet the black pencil with their special innocence and affection. They even worry about the black pencil and cheer him up for laboring in their place.
The book is composed of three stories, including the tale of the carrot pencil, which could not return after rolling under the wardrobe, and the story of the sad strawberry pencil, which found it hard to write anymore after it grew shorter and shorter.

Sang-hyo Gil
(English) Gil reads and writes with children and young readers. His books include Where are you going, Jumdong?, I met you, The best baker in town wears a skirt, I’ll deliver the message, The sun is white and fire is red, The alley will take you there, Do you want to be friends with Atom?, and more. Gil received an honorable mention in the 3rd Korea Science Fiction Awards for Boyhood, and won an award at the 10th Biryongso Literature Awards for his book, The night time pencil case files.

Bo-young Sim
(English) Shim Boyoung initially pursued a career in design but fell in love with the enchanting world of picture books. Presently, she’s engaged in the creative process of uncovering imagery within stories and infusing narratives into images. She has authored and illustrated books such as The Remarkable Beard; Oops, My Hat; Restaurant Vacation; and My Older Brother Covered in Hair. She has also contributed her illustrations to works like Udada Meow Park; Inside the Pencil Case on a Deep Night; Alice in Wonder Space; Zzz-zzz;; and The Red Fox’s Arctic Vacation.
