Ms. Hammurabi is a legal drama written by current chief prosecuting attorney Mun Yu-sok. In this book, Mun, who had previously expressed interest in writing a frank story about the various legal disputes in society and the judges who presided over such cases, tells a realistic and engrossing story about the drama that unfolds in courtrooms, what judges consider in cases, and how trials actually develop.
Park Cha Oh-reum is a rookie judge who has been assigned to the Seoul Central District Court. On the way to her first day at work, she witnesses a man sexually harassing a woman on the subway, reprimands him, and promptly hands him over to the police. Unable to stand idly by at the sight of injustice, she finds herself constantly embarrassing Im Ba-reun, a senior judge with whom she works. Nevertheless, it's difficult for anyone to dislike Park Cha Oh-reum, whose heart is so big that she cannot walk past someone in trouble without listening to their story and sharing a cry in empathy.
Will Judge Park Cha Oh-reum's enthusiasm be able to breathe fresh air into a world of corruption, collectivism, authoritarianism, and complacency?
