(English) Walk Into the Story
An essay collection that has shed new light on the past and present of Busan by borrowing a novel with the backdrop of Busan. An essay addressing a work that takes a “region” apart from Seoul as its background, the book speaks on literature by adopting a special format and attempts a new method of approach to the novel.
The author’s steps that started from Gupo pass Jungang-dong and Wandol-dong and stops at Eulsukdo Island and Namhae. The author Kap Sang Cho revisits the places where characters in the novel stayed and strolled, taking photos and recording the scenery.
The space in the novel is a reproduction of space in reality, so identifying the yesterday and today of a region through a work is never an unrealistic story. The author emphasizes repeatedly that an on-site survey of a literary space significantly assists the understanding of a work as well as exploring the region.
