The background of this series of six novels is 'beanstalk,' a 674-story skyscraper that is a "thick building with the length and width reaching almost five kilometers" and is in itself a large city and sovereign state. The book interprets the dynamics in the actual world using three-dimensional imagination, such as the Three Wise Recruits, in which researchers investigate the power structure within the building by attaching tags to high-class liquor, the Amitabha in the Square, which examines the routinized war mechanism, and Elevator Field Exercise. It tells stories that anyone on Earth can sympathize with by demonstrating an outstanding sense regarding life and love for humanity, as can be discovered in the subject matter of the Taklamakan Misdelivery, in which a letter to find a person in distress in a desert spreads throughout the world via the Internet, and the prologue that adopts religious elements and deals with the tension between Nature and civilization.

Bae Myunghoon
Author Bae Myounghoon began his literary career in 2005 when his short story Smart D won a sci-fi contest. He wrote collections of stories, Art and Acceleration of Gravity; Tower; and Hello, Artificial Being!; novels First Breath; Archaeo-Psychic; and ROK Space Force; and the essay I Am a Sci-Fi Writer. He is the winner of the Daesan Literary Award and Young Writer’s Award.
