Bedtime Dragonflies!
We often count sheep when we cannot go to sleep. However, maybe this won’t work in Korean. In English, we count sheep because the pronunciation of the word “sheep” reminds us of “sleep.” Maybe we should start counting “dragonflies,” which has a similar pronunciation to “bed.” This book starts with this fun idea and helps children to sleep tight by calming them.
One dark night, Yuna lies down to sleep, but cannot fall asleep. The buzzing sound of mosquitos keeps her awake. Not standing it any longer, she gets up and turns the lights on and succeeds in chasing away all the mosquitos. But still, Yuna cannot fall asleep. The mosquitos have carried her sleep away. Yuna’s mom tells her that dragonflies are a perfect solution for mosquitos. After all, dragonflies prey on and eat mosquitoes. So she promises herself that she will catch one hundred dragonflies when the Sun comes up. And she starts counting dragonflies: one dragonfly, two dragonflies... While counting one hundred dragonflies, her eyelids start to feel heavy and, Yuna soon falls into a deep sleep. This is because the dragonflies will protect her while she sleeps.
Cute, warm illustrations combined with witty writing composed of homonyms create a book that gives a calm atmosphere. This picture book will give a good night’s sleep to children who fuss about not falling asleep.

« En espérant que les enfants mangent volontairement des légumes, j’ai écrit Mélange, mélange, Bibimbap !. Et en espérant que les enfants s’endorment bien, j’ai écrit Libellules au lit !.
