Overview

This is a photo essay on the drama the Descendants of the Sun aired in February 2016 .

Book Intro

The drama “Descendants of the Sun,” the winner of the 52nd Baeksang Arts Awards which has gained widespread popularity not only in South Korea but also across Asia, has been made into a novel.

The novel is about the love between Yoo Sijin, the captain of a South Korean Special Forces unit, and the lovely medical doctor Kang Moyeon, as well as the love between Sergeant major Seo Daeyoung, who loves only one person, and First Lieutenant Yoon Myungju, who dedicates herself to her lover. The four characters show love that overcomes the most extreme situations and goes beyond the limits of the world. The faithfulness of soldiers who protect the country and the humane efforts of doctors who save lives are also one of the attractive features of “Descendants of the Sun.”

Son Hyunkyoung, who has transformed several dramas such as Lovers in Prague, My Princess, and Secret Garden into novels, has produced a more appealing story with her delicate touch. In the novel, the backstories and emotions of the characters that could not be expressed in the drama are portrayed in detail. Thus, readers will be able to find a different kind of pleasure.
