Something unfamiliar happens in Dokggak county, where goblins are said to live! What the heck is this strange home shopping channel that appears on the old TV? 

Due to family situation, Chani gets to live in his grandfather's house in the country town of Dokggak. Away from busy city life of looking at smartphone and attending academy after school every day, it feels too quite and lonely. When the night comes early, there is nothing to do and nothing to play with, so he even wants to read books. School life is also boring, nothing to expect. Usually parents send kids to middle schools in a city. But Chani transferred to the school in a country... It may be natural for other kids to think of him as abandoned.

But Chani gets used to the country life. One night hearing the acorns falling on the roof, he happens to turn on an old, fat TV and watch a "Mysterious Home Shopping" channel. Two show hosts, with strange faces, shout "Magical ~ Mysterious ~ Home Shopping ~!" and whisper to him to buy products that seems to have magical powers.

A goblin hat turns you invisible, a leaf wallet turns leaves into money, the fox tail turns you into whoever you want. The items sold by the show hosts grabs Chani's heart and attention. They also represents Chani's desire and growth, living lonely in the country without mom and dad. The goblins just sell products and whisper to people's minds. Where and how to use them depends only on the mind of the user. During the period when the acorn season begins and ends, the story shows  through a beautiful narrative, the process of a child growing up to care about the heart of others instead of lingering on what he lacks.

도깨비 전설이 깃든 '독각면'에서 펼쳐지는 낯선 시골생활!

배불뚝이 오래된 TV에 나타난 이상한 홈쇼핑 채널의 정체는 무엇일까?

한순간에 어려워진 집안 사정으로 찬이는 혼자 '독각면'이라는 시골에 위치한 큰할아버지 집에서 지내게 된다. 매일 스마트폰을 들여다보고, 하교 후엔 학원 다니느라 정신없었던 일상에서 멀어지게 된 찬이는 적막한 시골이 영 낯설기만 하다. 일찍 밤이 찾아오면 할 일도 없고 딱히 가지고 놀 것도 없어서 책이 그리울 정도다. 전학 간 학교생활도 기대할 것 없기는 마찬가지다. 다들 중학교 진학을 앞두고 도시로 가기 바쁜데, 되레 시골로 전학 온 아이라니...... 다른 아이들이 자신을 버림 받은 아이로 생각하는 건 당연할지 모른다.

밤이면 지붕으로 토도독 떨어지는 도토리 소리에 익숙해질 무렵, 찬이는 안방에 놓인 케이블 방송도 나오지 않는 오래되고 뚱뚱한 브라운관 TV를 무심코 켠다. 그렇게 보게 된 '신통방통 홈쇼핑'. 기묘한 얼굴색에 어딘가 이상해 보이는 두 쇼호스트는 "신통~ 방통~ 호움쇼핑~!"을 번갈아 외치며 딱 봐도 마법 같은 힘이 담긴 상품을 구매하라고 속삭인다.

모자를 쓰면 투명인간처럼 변하는 '도깨비감투', 나뭇잎을 넣으면 돈으로 변하는 '나뭇잎 지갑', 원하는 사람으로 변신할 수 있는 '구미호 꼬리' 등등 쇼호스트들이 판매하는 상품들은 하나같이 찬이의 마음을 휘어잡는다. 한편으로 홈쇼핑은 엄마 아빠와 떨어져 혼자 기약 없이 낯선 생활을 해야 하는 찬이의 바람과 욕구, 그리고 성장 모습을 보여 주는 채널이기도 하다. 도깨비는 그저 상품을 팔고 사람의 마음을 흔들고 속삭일 뿐, 그 힘을 어디에 어떻게 사용할지는 오로지 쓰는 사람의 마음가집에 달려 있기 때문이다. 도토리 철이 시작되어 끝나는 무렵까지, 이 이야기는 자신의 결핍만을 바라보던 아이가 다른 사람들의 마음까지 헤아릴 줄 아는 아이로 성장해 나가는 과정을 아름다운 서사를 통해 보여 준다.
