(English) The Vampire Family

In countless stories, vampires are depicted as dreadful beings that suck the blood of humans and live for ever. But here is a group of vampires who want to become humans because they despise sucking blood. It is the family of Byeolhu, the protagonist of the book, The Vampire Family. This book introduces Gi Byeolhu and his family of vampires, with the imaginative and humorous depiction of what goes on in the family.

There's something special about the family of Gi Byeolhu, a transfer student to Miracle Elementary School. The parents, both mom and dad, as well as Byeolhu, always wear sunglasses to avoid sunlight, consume red beverages instead of food, and sleep in coffins. While they appear normal, they are in truth a family of vampires. But they are different from other vampires as they do not wish to such blood. Drinking blood will allow them to live longer, but Byeolhu's family does not want to hurt people. So they suppress their craving for blood with medication while endlessly looking for a way to become human. Their research has led them to the knowledge that by drinking the rainbow potion before Byeolhu's 11th birthday, they can become human. However, one of the ingredients is 3 drops of true, emotional tears from a child with garlic blood, which is an ingredient that is nearly impossible to find. Byeolhu has been moving around the country in search of a child with garlic blood, but the effort has failed so far. But Miracle Elementary School feels different. It feels like a miracle will happen, as in its name. Byeolhu discovers a classmate with dirty clothing who smells like garlic, Oh Sansan, and realizes he is one step closer to a miracle. So Byeolhu decides to become friends with Oh Sansan, and puts the rainbow potion operation into action.
