The Captain's in Trouble! is the third book in the Animal Knowledge Picture Book series, introducing knowledge of various animals through a fun story. The story depicts the journey of safari animals with different skins, forms and characteristics trying to save their captain, a snail, from danger. The book is focused on the animals' skin, introducing knowledge and telling interesting stories about different skins on different animals. 

The snail was chosen to be captain because he had the most teeth. Then one day, the flower garden he lived in turned into a mess from heavy rain, and the captain went missing. To a snail, which breathes through its skin, a dry environment is dangerous, but heavy rain is equally dangerous. Despite their different skins, the squirrel, toad, snake and elephant of the safari rally together to save their friend, as they all share the same caring heart. In the process, they meet new friends with interesting skins such as the electric eel, who generates electricity from its skin, the chameleon, who changes the color of its skin according to its surroundings, and the firefly, which makes its own illumination. In the end, the friends find their captain. But for some reason, the captain is inside his shell and does not move at all. Did something happen to the captain? Once again, the animal friends gather together and think about ways to save their captain.

『대장이 위험해!』는 재미있는 이야기 속에 동물들에 대한 다양한 지식을 담은 [동물지식그림책> 시리즈의 세 번째 책으로, 저마다 다른 피부 형태와 특징을 가진 사파리 동물들이 모두 힘을 합쳐 위험에 빠진 사파리의 대장, 달팽이를 찾아 나서는 과정을 그리고 있다. ‘피부’를 소재로 하여 여러 동물들의 피부에 관한 지식과 특성을 흥미로운 이야기를 통해 독자들에게 알려 준다.

이빨이 가장 많아서 사파리 동물들의 대장으로 뽑힌 달팽이. 어느 날 큰비가 내려 대장이 살던 꽃밭이 엉망이 되고 대장도 어디론가 사라져 버리고 만다. 비에 휩쓸려 대장이 위험에 빠진 게 분명하다. 피부로 호흡하는 달팽이에게는 건조한 환경도 위험하지만 큰비 역시 위험하다. 다람쥐와 두꺼비, 뱀과 코끼리 등 서로 피부 다르지만 친구를 위하는 마음은 하나인 사파리의 동물들이 힘을 합쳐 대장 구하기에 나선다. 그 길목에서 동물 친구들은 피부 표면에서 전기를 만들어 내는 뱀장어, 환경에 따라 피부색이 변하는 카멜레온, 빛을 뿜는 흙반디 등 신기한 피부를 가진 여러 동물들을 만나 도움을 받는다. 그리고 마침내 대장의 행방을 발견하기에 이르지만, 어쩐 일인지 대장은 단단한 껍데기 속에서 꼼짝도 하지 않는다. 대장에게 무슨 일이 생긴 걸까? 동물 친구들은 대장을 구하기 위해 또다시 머리를 맞대고 지혜를 모은다.
