A Sinkhole Swallowed Our House! is an environmental picture book depicting the dangers of sinkholes created by city sprawl. There is a kitten (called "Eolluki," meaning spotty in Korean) who still looks like a baby. He lives alone on the streets. Not so long ago, he used to have a home and family. He used to live in an old house thrown away by people with his mom and younger siblings that he played with so well. But now, he is weary, living on the memories of those happy days. Before the incident happened, it was noisy because of construction projects tearing down empty houses and digging holes n the ground throughout the neighborhood. But Eolluki's house was still safe. So he was stubborn and didn't listen to his mother when she said they should leave.
Would they be alright if he listened to his mother? On one warm sunny day, a disaster happened to Eolluki's house. A huge sinkhole swallowed it up. Eolluki had a near escape but he lost his family. No matter how long he waited, his mom and siblings never came out of the hole. Consequently, Eolluki was left all alone, with a hole in his heart that cannot be filled.
