Book Intro

Korea is in an era of 5.4 million single households, and with this number rapidly increasing, more and more forms of residence, such as shared houses, are appearing in the residential landscape of Korea. A house is the largest of the three fundamental elements in human lives, but despite people's desire to have a great house, the reality is not easy. People compromise based on their bank accounts, and they live on trying their best to ignore, appear satisfied with or justify their decisions.

People say that they will be able to live in a better place in a few years, and if there is an opportunity to move to a better place or to one's favorite neighborhood, it is marriage. But what if one decides not to get married? Does this mean that he or she must live in a small houses forever?

There are people who present a new alternative that is different from a shared house. Kim Hana and Hwang Seonwoo are two women who lived a perfect single life, but they found themselves dissatisfied living in Korea where everything is standardized around a family of four. So they thought about it and came to the decision to live together, along with their four cats.

The path from single life to the moment they started living together, various episodes of sadness and joy they experienced afterwards, and the troubling issues and the resolution they found contain real, unembellished stories that apply to not only married couples but to households of all forms. The better life that is apparent even at a glimpse - let us take a look at that life with a friend that reminds us of a unicorn.
