Overview

This is a storybook from Kim Heekyoung, who won the Ragazzi award at the Bologna Children's Book Fair, and Yum Hyewon. Together, the two make us realize the meaning of time and growth.

Book Intro

I'm Growing Up is a philosophy picture book that shows all the little bits of the daily lives of children so that readers can realize the meaning of time and growth. The book cleverly captures the growing minds and bodies of children in every single moment. By showing the boring, sad, and painful moments as well as the joyful moments, this book delivers the message "You will grow up" along with these moments to children so that these children can believe in themselves and feel relaxed, allowing them to ultimately enjoy every bit of their lives as shining moments.

About the Author

Kim Hee-kyoung



Kim Hee-kyoung was born in Busan in 1977 and raised in Seoul. Kim studied philosophy and art history at Ewha Womans University. She currently lives in New York with her husband and son. Books written by Kim Hee-kyoung include The Map Always Speaks, and The Twelve Birds. She won the Ragazzi Non-Fiction Award from the Bologna Children's Book Fair for The House of the Mind.

Yum Hyewon



(English) Yum Hyewon majored in Western painting at college and woodcut design at graduate school. She also studied illustration at New York School of Visual Arts. She is currently living in New York City, working as the picture book writer. Last Night won the 2009 Bologna Ragazzi Award in the Fiction section. Her book, Mom, It's My First Day of Kindergarten! won the 2013 Ezra Jack Keats Book Award. Her other published books include The Twin's Little Sister and There Are No Scary Wolves.


(Vietnamese) Nhà văn Yeom Hye Won đã giành giải Xuất sắc hạng mục Fiction của Giải thưởng Bologna Lagachi năm 2009, giải Cánh diều vàng năm 2009, giải Tân binh của năm lĩnh vực vẽ tranh minh họa sách thiếu nhi của Hiệp hội các nhà minh họa Hoa Kỳ năm 2010.

(Russian) Автор окончила Сеульский национальный университет по специальности западная живопись, продолжила обучение в магистратуре этого же университета по специальности гравюра. Обучалась в Школе изобразительных искусств Нью-Йорка по специальности иллюстратор. Сейчас проживает в Бруклине, работая над иллюстрациями своих книг. Книга "Что ты делала вчера вечером?" получила в номинации фикшн главную премию Bologna Ragazzi Award на Болонской книжной ярмарке в 2009 г. В 2013 г. книга "Ура! Наконец я иду в детский сад!" получила премию Ezra Jack Keats Book Award. Также автор написала и проиллюстрировала следующие книги: "Моя старшая сестра-близняшка", "Я так люблю свою старшую сестру-близняшку", "Нет на свете страшных волков", "Горбатая старушка", "Морская вода такая соленая! Фу!", "Волк, который боится всего на свете", "Карп, который живет в бамбуковом лесу" и др.
