Welcome to Your First Library Experience
The main character, Doyoon, avoids the library because he imagines it to be a boring place and that it has a book monster that will capture him if he makes even a single little noise. However, upon the urging of his friend, he visits the library to see an art exhibit. While there, he reads a book called The Amazing Library Adventure of Yellowie. This book tells the story of Yellowie, a library book left in the book return box, as it embarks on a journey to find its place on the children’s bookshelf in the library. The book vividly portrays various aspects of the library, such as what happens there, the different spaces within the library, and the role of librarians. This book naturally captivates children’s interest in the library through its clever concept of a “book within a book”. It also introduces various activities that can be done at the library and helps children develop a closer connection to this book-filled space.
