Dad goes on a strike, mom quit working for a company due to an occupational disease, two kids want to change their busy mom and dad into good mom and dad and this family is faced with a total disaster. How does this family overcome the crisis? They chose books. Mom and dad went to the library with children who quit kindergarten due to belt-tightening at home and began to choose books and read them. As they read together, they began to empathize and communicate better. Finally, the family grew together.
It is a record of the family for over 4 years during which the first child who was 7 is a fourth grader in elementary school, and the second child who was 3 is now seven years old. Humanities they met were not tremendous, but they were in a book on the bookshelf at home and also in the bookshelves of the neighborhood library. It chose books corresponding to 10 topics everyone can think of at least once such as their calling, friendship, learning, and the nation, and organized the content by vividly connecting them to the episodes of everyday life. It is an essay on reading and growth that is recommended for ordinary and extraordinary Korean families.

Kim Jungeun
Kim Jungeun started writing when she became a mom. Raising two kids, she began to read books as she realized that she was too immature to be a mom. She believes becoming a good mom is as important as becoming a respectable person. She recalled that a handwritten letter in the lunch box her mother had written was the most precious gift to her. So she started writing to her eldest child, creating his own world as he reached puberty and her second child becoming an elementary school student with a free spirit. She has been going through true life-changing experiences since she began writing. She is the author of When a Family Reads Books Together and Mom’s Writing.
