This book personifies Tripitaka Koreana, the world’s oldest surviving Buddhist texts registered on the UNESCO World Heritage, and depicts major scenes of the history of the Goryeo Dynasty in implicative illustrations so that children who are yet to learn history can remember the contexts of the history with the flow of the images. At the end of the book, the overall history social circumstances of the Goryeo Dynasty are manifestly summarized, and the production course of Tripitaka Koreana and the structure of the Janggyeong Panjeon, the depository for the wooden blocks, are described. With this, the readers can have a glimpse of the excellent science technology of the ancient Korean people, which is the secret behind the incredible feat of preserving the Tripitaka Koreana in perfect condition.
The author hopes that this book could give readers an opportunity to learn about the Tripitaka Koreana, a precious Korean cultural heritage, and understand the great flow of the Korean history.

Kim hae deung
Born and raised in Bigeum-do island in the West Sea of Korea, Kim Hae-deung was greatly inspired by the ocean from childhood. Kim made a literary debut by winning Daesan University Literature Award and also won Woongjin Junior Literature Award, MBC Children’s Literature Award, and Jeong Chae-bong Literature Award. His works include The Saddest Gold Medal in the World, Heo Gyun and His Missing Literary Friend, Here Come the Four Schoolmates, Practice School, and Half-Piece Seo Hyeon-woo.
Yi Yong-Kyu
Yi majored in Western painting in college. In 2005, he received the IBBY Korean Commissioner's Special Award. Yi has also held various solo exhibitions and other art shows. He illustrated The Story of Goguryeo in Mural Paintings, Fairytale Written by Mom, Korean History Expedition, and Magic Calendar that Erases Tommorrow.
