A book that helps in understanding mise-en-scène in film as an art form.
- Book Intro
-
Mise-en-scène is the surface of a movie that controls all of its visual elements. The narrative of a movie is primarily contained on that surface. This is because every form of art contains its own content, and the content is transmitted through form. Therefore, when we watch a movie and take in its story, it is underscored by mise-en-scène. An understanding of mise-en-scène is an understanding of cinema itself. This book provides a concrete look into understanding the inner workings of mise-en-scène and is summarized into ten elements. Through this book, readers will be able to feel the depth of stories that lie on the surface of films.
