Overview

The popular comedy series A Gentleman’s Dignity is turned into a two-volume novel.

Book Intro

The popular drama series A Gentleman’s Dignity is made into a two-volume novel. Screenwriter Kim Eun-sook’s unique style of writing has created sensitive and sophisticated dialogue, along with sharp punchlines and meticulous and elaborate directions, providing the readers a different kind of impression and pleasure.

The two-volume novel A Gentleman’s Dignity subtly delivers the fluctuations of emotions the characters have in simple yet delicate sentences, as they could not be fully expressed in drama due to limits on broadcast time. The characters’ voices are heard more freely in the book, allowing the readers to follow their emotional changes.

Seo Yisoo has had a secret crush on Im Taesan, the guy with whom anyone would fall in love in just a minute, for a long time. However, Taesan is attracted to the gorgeous woman Hong Sera who comes to a baseball stadium to see Yisoo, and the two of them begin an intense love affair. As Yisoo has kept so many words in her mind, her heart still races faster whenever she sees Taesan. Then why doesn’t she confess her feelings towards him? It is because she is an ethics teacher. The moment when Taesan and Sera became a couple, the unrequited love she has for him became no longer one of the unrequited loves but the “unethical” and improper type of love. While she has been enduring her share of sorrow through being alone, suddenly an “audience” comes up. It is a guy who says everything he wants to say without hesitation, making spiteful remarks most of the time. The name of this guy who seems to lack social skills from anyone’s perspective is Kim Dojin. As time passes, Yisoo gradually opens her mind to Dojin who shows his sincere feelings toward her with some jokes and keeps touching her heart. Then one boy appears and causes some trouble. The boy is a nineteen-year-old Colin, the son of Eunhee who was the first love of all four gentlemen. “I heard that one of you is my father.”

Where will these stories go? The story about work and friendship among four guys who have been growing up from boys to gentlemen and their love stories with four ladies will fill the readers’ heart with romance.
