(English) Tomorrow Will Be Clear

Beginning from something round and yellow, this dynamic story unfolds from left to right, top to bottom, center to peripheries, and expected to unexpected. On this yellow line, individuals walk, run, wait, hang, rest, and walk again. Thousands of traces of human action fill the space.
The story begins with a voice that delivers the weekly weather forecast. Each page depicts an ordinary scene in the morning. The yellow line of a bus stop changes into a cross walk, then stretches  underground, then enters the water, rises up in the air, and settles down again on the ground. The weekly weather is changeable, as seen in a drastic temperature drop, sudden shower followed by a thunderstorm, and further complicated by particulate air conditions. However, it is no different from the future in that it is unpredictable.
A number of key characters -- a child going to school with his friend, a laborer fixing problems at his work site, an athlete training, and a traveler with a large bag --  make up this short narrative, structured like a relay race connected with a baton. The individuals who pass the yellow line are walking, hanging, swimming, struggling, resisting, and resting. The narrative heightens along with the movement, and reaches a breath-taking peak in the second half.
Author and illustrator Lee Myungae fills the pages with individuals, distances, and the art of ordinary life built from various materials and drawing techniques.

左から右へ、上から下へ、中心から周りへ、そして完全に予測が外れて展開する黄色い線。様々な材料とテクニックを行き来しながらも調和しているイ・ミョンエのドローイングは、千種類の体の軌跡を見せてくれる。子供と大人、近くと遠い所、日常と芸術、人間と非人間を行き来する登場人物たちの足音が涼しい版面を満たす。

노랗고 둥근 무언가에서부터 출발하는 이 역동적인 이야기는 왼쪽에서 오른쪽으로, 위에서 아래로, 중심에서 변방으로, 그리고 완전히 예측을 벗어나 움직이는 선을 따라 전개된다. 사람들은 노란 선 위를 걷고, 달리고, 무언가를 기다리고, 매달리고 쉬고 또 걷는다. 화면을 채우고 있는 것은 인간의 몸이 그려낸 천 가지가 넘는 궤적이다.
한 주의 날씨를 알리는 음성과 함께 이야기는 시작된다. 저마다의 아침을 맞이하는 일상적인 풍경이다. 버스정류장을 이루던 노란 선은 횡단보도가 되었다가, 땅 밑으로 물속으로 공중으로 다시 길로 이어진다. 기온이 차다가 돌연 비가 내리고, 태풍급 바람과 천둥번개에 미세먼지까지 기승을 부린다니 한 주의 날씨라기에는 변화무쌍하지만, 예측할 수 없다는 점에서 우리의 내일과 다를 바는 없다. 친구를 만나 등교하는 아이, 일터에서 힘껏 문제를 해결하는 노동자, 최고의 기량을 연마하는 운동선수, 커다란 배낭을 진 여행자 등 주연이 되는 인물이 몇 장면의 짧은 이야기를 만들고, 이어달리기를 하듯 다음 주자에게 바통을 넘기는 형식은 매우 독특하다. 노란 선을 통과하는 인물들은 걷고 매달리고 유영하고 힘겹게 싸우고, 버티다 쉬다 출렁인다. 이 움직임을 따라 고조되는 서사는, 후반부의 절정에 이르러 숨 막히는 장관을 펼쳐 놓는다.                
다양한 재료와 기법을 넘나들면서도 조화로운 이명애의 드로잉. 아이와 어른, 근처와 먼 곳, 일상과 예술, 인간과 비인간을 넘나드는 등장인물들의 발소리는 시원한 판면을 팽팽하게 채우고 있다.
