Overview

This beautiful picture book by Lee Sanggyo, a famous literature author, and illustrated by Park Byung-Ho is a poem called ‘Empty house.’

Book Intro

The poem "An Empty House" was featured in Dust, Are You Sleeping?, a children's poetry book that was published in 2006. This poem focuses on little creatures and makes their hidden stories into poems and stories. That snows innocent perspectives of the author Lee Sangkyo.

We are living in a world where leaving and abandoning have become a part of a life. The author presents us with warm and well-organized stories from little creatures in nature. Illustrator Han Byungho, a nominee in 2014 Hans Christian Andersen Awards, presented little creatures which turn an empty space into harmonious one in lyrical illustrations.

Broken glass pieces, black wall and shady gate door got back their warmth from sunlight, colorful flowers cats and dogs which come and go. Using color painting, pencil, collage, and other mixed methods and materials, his pictures show emptiness and silence that fills an empty house, debris of memories at home, enthusiastic emotions, and times though to endure.
