Overview

This is a delightful children's story that breaks down the barriers between disabled and non-disabled persons through a physiological phenomenon everybody experiences.

Book Intro

(English)

1. I hope I don't poop in my pants!

Brother Seulchan , became disabled in a sudden accident. I went on a trip in his car, because Brother Seulchan is a strong-willed Korean. We ate snacks at a rest stop. I felt good because of the people who helped Brother Seulchan. But shortly, I stopped feeling so good. I couldn't even go to the bathroom because of the old man whom we had an argument with in front of the bathroom for disabled persons. Brother Seulchan kept on looking for bathrooms at expressway rest stops, but it was difficult for people with disabilities to use them. The bathroom at the second rest stop we arrived at was worse, and the third bathroom? I really needed to go to the bathroom but I couldn't go alone and betray Brother Seulchan, could I? Oh! To be loyal or to poop... that is the question... It's really painful.

2. An amusing children's story that has broken down the barriers between people with disabilities and those without using a physiological phenomenon every body experiences.

This book implies what the author did do -- in fact, she was a sitcom writer. It does not have the sincerity and sadness usually felt in a children's story with disability as its theme. Its comic and realistic dialogues, unique characters and the fun materials arouse laughter from the beginning to the end, and at the same time, touch the readers' hearts. Readers know, from their personal experience, how difficult it is to hold on to a number two which is trying to come out. The book naturally makes its readers into disabled people trying to go to the bathroom. It makes them vividly experience aspects of the life of a disabled person which they normally wouldn't think of, such as how hard it is for Brother Seulchan, in a wheelchair, to go to the bathroom and why the bathrooms built for disabled people are not suitable for them.

3. What kind of person am I? A children's story about discovering the power of a person that can make a beautiful society.

This book graphically depicts a society in which disabled and non-disabled people live and tells us the direction we should follow. There are good and bad sides to the people whom the main characters meet, and readers get to think about which side they belong to. Readers discover the great power of a trivial thing by watching the main characters, Mohae and Brother Seulchan ,who are comforted by people's kind greetings that change their day of hell into heaven.
