Overview

Words of love and comfort from a psychological essayist for those who are tired of life

Book Intro

"You don't need to try so hard.

You don't need to make such great effort. You are perfect the way you are."

This is a book about self-love, the piece that completes the puzzle of life.

We always feel as if we're being pushed in one direction or another. Even if there's no one at our side, urging us to do something, we feel as if we have to do something, that we can't fall behind. We're busy as it is, making a living, but we feel as if we need to develop ourselves and have a decent hobby. We feel ashamed, comparing our lives to the seemingly wonderful lives of people we see on online social networks. But do we really need to feel this way? Are we useless if we do nothing, and stay in bed till noon? I Love Myself Nonetheless, a book written by Lim Seoyoung, a psychological essayist, tells us what it is we really need. The author says that we need to break free from a neverending cycle of pressure and effort, and not do anything. She also says that we don't need to make an effort. It's okay, though we may wonder if it really is. We are whole, even if we're alone; we are perfect as we are; and we deserve to be loved, the way we are.

About the Author

Lim Seoyoung

Lim Seoyoung has a master's degree in psychology. She worked briefly at an advertising company after college graduation, and wrote screenplays as well, but what most interested her was exploring her own mind. Life gradually became better as she learned what kind of person she was. She then realized that she had been orbiting around similar concerns all her life, and wondered if people couldn't break free of a familiar path, as planets continue their revolution. Moving away from psychology, she read all the books she came across on the logic of the mind. As she did, she came to realize that "self-love" is the piece that completes the puzzle that is life. Today, she is a psychological essayist who writes on a variety of topics.
