- Book Intro
-
This book has a memorable cover: a bright warm day, the old man's cheerful expression and the bag on his back, all ready to go on a trip, and a small being, like the ghost of a child, stands next to him. It talks about death with the old man's trip representing this theme.
Late one night, a guest comes to the old man's house. The old man greets the guest as if he has been waiting for him, and diligently prepares to go on a journey. Because he has to go a long way, he boils plenty of eggs, washes himself carefully and shaves his beard. He takes out his best suit, puts it on, and collects some coins he has saved up deep inside the wardrobe for travel money.
Although the old man does not know where he is going, he will follow this strange guest to a far away place, somewhere he has never been before. But his mind is calm and light at the thought that he can meet people he misses again if he goes there.
This book talks about death by imagining going on a trip to a far away place. As a result, children won't think of death as something terrifying and scary. Instead, they should start to understand it and accept it as natural.
