Overview

This book contains folktales from Africa.

Book Intro

(English) Who Took the Rabbit’s Tail?

Each animal species has its own unique tail. Horses have beautiful, long tails that swing about cheerfully when they gallop, while elephants have wrinkly ones. Peacocks have such magnificent and extravagant tails that we cannot help but admire. But there's something strange about rabbits' tails. They are short and stubby. Why is that? In many countries around the world, there are fascinating folktales about rabbits' tails.

Who Took the Rabbit's Tail? contains folktales from Africa. In Africa, rabbits are regarded as rather naughty and selfish. The rabbit in this book tries to play a trick, which then ends in tears. However, the author does not condemn the rabbit or punish him in the book. Rather, the story slowly reveals what are the results of the rabbit's words and actions. At the end of the story, we are presented with the question "Who took the rabbit's tail?" Instead of provoking hatred against the rabbit, this book will pique children's interest and curiosity.
