How To Use Mom is a book that both children and mothers can read to find the real meaning of family. The topic in this book is universal, but the unusual first scene--one in which a child asks his dad to buy him a mother--is an interesting start that will capture the eyes of readers. Hyunsu, who has never had a mother, asks his dad to buy him a real-life toy mom. Hyunsu assembles the toy and expects to be happy, but his new toy mom never comes to him and only handles the house chores. The boy wanted a mom who would make him run errands for her, scold him if needed, and enjoy watching the clouds together. He was also hoping that his mom would tell him that she loved him and give him a hug. As a result, the boy is disappointed. He listens to his grandfather's advice and teaches the toy mom what he really wants step by step. The mother slowly learns how to love the child, and they become a real family that shares love and memories as the time that they share grows longer. The concept of assembling a mom as if she were a robot or doll is interesting enough to trigger the interest of children. The changed role between a mom and a child is perfect for children to express what they really want.
