Overview

This is a story about Mumba, an African buffalo, who struggles to keep his own self-esteem and honor.

Book Intro

In the animal kingdom, there are carnivores and herbivores, and based on the law of the jungle, most herbivores are prey to carnivores. However, there are a few exceptions to this law, and one of them is the African buffalo—a herbivore with a gigantic body and horns as hard as iron. For survival,  African buffaloes constantly risk their lives in bloody fights with carnivores—particularly lions, which rule the plains. Their outstanding bravery and warrior spirit are sources of fascination to us. Mumba's Horns - And... the Heart of a Warrior is a story of an African buffalo's fierce fights and indomitable spirit. From far away, the African plains look peaceful and breathtaking. But if you take one step closer, you'll witness numerous battles taking place every single day. Mumba was born with red fur, because of which, he is alienated and bullied by the other buffaloes—except for his friends Tonya and Makeh—just like humans sometimes are in the human world. Another unique feature no other buffalo has is Mumba’s enormous horns, which have grown skywards. These horns have given him confidence as he grew up, and he has nothing to fear. One day, as he is wandering the plains, he runs into a couple of lions. Fortunately, the lions are full and Mumba manages to escape the danger. But the fear and terror have already left a scar in his heart, and from that time, his self-esteem is at rock bottom. Later, he even becomes envious of the lions’ golden fur, and he dreams a dream in which he is a lion himself... That is, his extreme fear and his inability to accept himself as he is, have developed into admiration for the lions. Will he ever get a chance to turn the situation around? Ultimately, this book is about self-esteem and improving low self-esteem, as well as determined action and courage. It can also be read as a story about discrimination and tolerance in our society, and about humankind, who can overcome any related problems.
