Book Intro

Stories about SDGs from Kids Around the World

Stories about SDGs from Kids Around the World focuses on ten key topics that came out of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which children must learn about. It covers these topics in detail, portraying fictional characters facing issues related to these goals in letters addressed to Korean children. This format enables children to easily empathize with the characters. Using various materials, including statistics, photographs, and infographics, the book elaborates on the meaning of these goals, the reasons for their establishment, and the specifics of each objective. The book discusses not only the tasks that nations and societies should undertake to achieve the SDGs but also suggests practical ways for individuals, as global citizens, to contribute.

In addition, the book covers various examples that contribute to achieving SDGs, highlighting the attainable nature of these goals. This includes Grameen Bank, which lends money to the poor without collateral to alleviate poverty; simple and eco-friendly solar cookers; Ghana’s fairtrade cooperative Kuapa Kokoo, aimed at creating quality jobs; and efforts made by South Korea to achieve SDGs. This allows readers to explore both domestic and international issues related to SDGs.
