이기나지나연구소에서 실험 쥐로 살고 있는 서쌩크는 채소밭을 찾아 탈출을 감행하다, 고양이인 이기나지나 박사에 잡혀 감금당하고 만다. 이기나지나 박사는 자신의 연구소에 실험쥐들에게 매일 게임을 시킨다. 이길 수 없는 게임을 거듭하며 쥐들은 지쳐 병들어가지만 이기나지나 박사는 ‘핵뚜껑파워엑스’만 마시면 게임에서 이길 수 있다고 쥐들을 꼬드긴다. 박사에게 속아 핵뚜껑파워엑스를 꿀꺽꿀꺽 마신 쥐들은 배탈이 나 연구소는 똥 바다가 되고, 어수선한 이 틈을 타서 탈출에 성공한 쌩크는 채소밭을 찾아 신선한 채소를 맘껏 먹고 뱃속의 평화를 누린다. 그때 화장실에 버려진 신문기사에서 이기나지나 박사의 계략을 알게 되고, 분노한 쌩크는 연구소에 갇힌 벗들을 구하기로 결심을 하는데∙∙∙∙∙∙.

이 책은 신약 개발을 위해 동물 실험의 주 대상이 되는 쥐를 피실험자로, 고양이 이기니지나 박사를 실험자로 내세워 인위적인 실험으로 인해 교란되는 쥐들의 생태를 보여준다. 하지만 실험자였던 고양이 역시 ‘나쁜 손’에 의한 피실험자였음이 밝혀지며, 최상위 실험자로 존재하는 ‘나쁜 손’인간의 이기적인 탐욕을 경고한다.
