Overview

Welcome to Sierra Zoo, the bio-A.I. complex safari!

Book Intro

(English) Datbyeol the Wind Wolf

Gaon Forest is the center of Sierra Zoo in the year 2050. Gaon Forest is a bio-A.I. complex safari where animals live in an environment that is the same as the wild. Datbyeol, a wind wolf trained to control gray wolves, manages a happy life there. One day, a sudden earthquake throws the safari into chaos. Due to the earthquake, a nearby nuclear power plant collapses, leaking radiation. Under the circumstances, people decide to destroy the animals of the safari. Without knowing this, Datbyeol goes out to meet Mirinae, a human who has taken care of him and whom he likes. During the journey, he meets another wind wolf named Saetbyeol outside the safari, and heads toward Nakwon City, where the humans seem to have gone. However, he is attacked by a drone and returns to the safari. He discovers that Wind No. 6, who stayed in the safari, is dead, and Wind No. 17 has disappeared. With clues indicating the gray wolves were to blame, Datbyeol becomes enraged and goes to where the gray wolves are, but he is forced into a corner, surrounded by a group of grays. Then suddenly, Jumong, a tiger from Mt. Baekdu, appears and saves him. Jumong advises him to follow his instincts and go into the wild instead of maintaining his current life made by humans. Datbyeol has neither a reason to leave for the wild nor the confidence to do so. But Wind No. 17 informs him that all the wind wolves are clones created by gene manipulation. Meanwhile, Datbyeol hears from Saetbyeol that humans are killing the animals. He is shocked by the fact that humans are destroying the animal clones and he himself is merely a cloned consumable. Finally, he meets Mirinae, and Mirinae’s conciliation leads him to agonize over whether to maintain his current life or go out to the wild. However, realizing that Mirinae’s counsel is a trap to capture him, he decides to leave. With a drone constantly chasing him, Datbyeol becomes bait to help the gray wolves escape, and rescues Mirinae, who has fallen into a swamp while chasing him. Mirinae removes a location device attached to Datbyeol and releases him. At last, Datbyeol heads towards the Canyon of Wind, his birthplace, which is the true wilderness. He falls over a cliff while being attacked by the drone, but still hopes that one day he’ll meet the gray wolf.
