Once upon a time long ago, there lived a clown, a mermaid, and a queen. Then they….
The book starts off with this familiar phrase. A clown falls in love with a mermaid at first sight. Head over heels in love, The clown’s head is filled with thoughts of the mermaid. He wants to get closer to her and do something for her without getting anything in return. The mermaid, too, begins to have a special feeling for him. Both of them have no other wishes except to love each other. But then the queen, who reigns over the world the two live in, falls ill and their happiness is jeopardized. Someone had told the queen that the ashes of the burned mermaid were the one and only cure for her.
The clown, meanwhile, owns a hat that will grant him one wish. Of course, the queen knows about it, too. After many hours of mulling it over, the clown pays a visit to the queen. Will the conclusion of the story be a happy ending? A surprising turnaround in the plot will keep the readers turning the pages forward.
The Clown Who Loved the Mermaid is a completely new kind of book that readers have not seen before. All the writing and illustrations are unraveled on paper, with the handwritten words and the drawings done by the author herself, thereby adding much appeal to the book. The characters are distinctively unique, the writing and the illustration quite charming and engaging with various lighting, props, and effects make this book truly one of a kind. It is like a fairy tale but readers will undoubtedly become absorbed in the indescribable thrill and enjoyment of this book.
