A picture essay for those struggling to build relationships. Author Hye-Ryeong Kim confesses that although she believes she is walking on a stable path as an illustrator, it hurts when other people try to judge her career only by her random work schedule and income. By revealing how she once lost herself because of relationships, fell into depression because of inconsiderate comments, and was hurt by people who judged her by their own standards, she reminds readers of the importance of keeping a distance when it comes to relationships, while making incisive remarks that she kept to herself all along. The book also introduces ways to spend time alone, away from complicated relationships, and recharge our batteries.
Kim offers comfort to our exhausted souls as we overly pursue objective happiness, guiding us toward living our “own life,” free from conventional beliefs. The sweet and entertaining illustrations inserted throughout will encourage readers to keep the book on their shelves. We hope these vernal images and words help readers shake off the heavyweight and pressure that come from relationships.
