It is a collection of four short stories written by the female author Kwon Ri, who has won the 9th Hankyoreh Literary Award. The titular piece illustrates the sad ending of an ordinary man who happens to gain fame by binge eating. He is pressured to eat more because the more he eats, the more enthusiastic the public becomes. However, when the Binge Artist finally fails, the public turns their back on him, and his value erodes day after day. In the end, it is the very public who drives the man to a miserable death. You will be able to enjoy the new attempt of the Korean literature through the sparkling works of Kwon Ri who has been experimenting with new ideas.  

제9회 한겨레문학상 수상 여성 작가 권리의 4편의 이야기가 담겨 있다. 그 중 표제작 「폭식 광대」는 폭식을 업으로 삼아 살아가는 한 남자의 서글픈 최후를 그린다. 평범했던 남자가 폭식으로 일약 유명인이 되면서 계속해서 더 많이 먹어야만 하는 삶을 살게 된다. 그러던 어느 날, 폭식 광대가 사회의 암적인 존재라는 여론이 형성되고 더이상 그의 폭식에 열광하지 않는다. 신선한 소재와 발상으로 문학적 실험을 해온 작가 권리의 재기발랄한 작품들을 통해 한국문학의 새로운 도전을 느낄 수 있을 것이다.
