What do pencils inside the pencil case talk about? How do the pencils feel when they have a hard time writing in your diary or when they write a letter to a friend?
The pencils inside Dami’s pencil case start the day every morning with motion sickness, because Dami oversleeps every day, and she never packs her bag the night before, so she is always in a hurry dashing to school. Dami’s book bag, the pencil case inside the bag, and the pencils inside the pencil case teetertotter and crash into each other as she runs, and they are exhausted even before lessons begin. Dami’s pencils have more complaints on top of this. They are nibbled by Dami, who struggles to write in her diary when there’s nothing to write about, and they find it extremely painful each time they have to write “Today was a joyful day, too,” at the end of the diary, when it was not joyful at all. It was hard to write poems and difficult to solve math problems, which have become even more complicated now that Dami has moved up a grade. Besides, why did she have to learn English? The concerns of the pencils eventually represent the things that the pencil owner is worried about herself.
A pencil that a friend borrowed for a day talks about how excited it was when it fluently wrote an interesting event in the diary and breezed through the math problems. A new pencil, flushed, tells how nervous it was and what sense of accomplishment it felt when it balanced itself on a compass and drew a circle on paper for the first time. The pencils’ hearts also pound when they write a letter to someone they like. Three stories filled with happy and cute ideas will warm readers’ hearts and put a smile on their faces.
