‘Women in Film Korea’, the organization established to pursue interests of female workers in movie business and to create better environment for more female directors, has interviewed 20 female movie directors, representing each field of film business since 1990 in order to commemorate 20th anniversary of its establishment. From production fields, such as production, direction, acting, shooting, light, art, sound, edition, documentary, marketing to film festival programing to journalism, the book has contained the thoughts of all those creators related to film business about their work, life, and movies.
Unlike the existing film history focusing on the artistic world of male directors studied by male researchers, this book is written based on questions and answers among female film business people who have enlightened every corner of production fields by pursuing ‘the history of all’. The story of change, challenge, achievement, frustration, solidarity, and cooperation experienced in each field of business for the last 30 years is not just a distinguishing achievement in Korean film history, but also a struggling record of working women as professionals, workers, artists, and common people themselves.
