The story of green babies we want to cheer.

‘Now we are in the middle of sports event among green things.’ This book lightly begins with this sentence to show such a cute scene of all these green things everywhere. They all look round and similar, but actually they all have different shapes of fruit – apples, pumpkins, chestnuts, pineapples, tangerines, Korean melons, grapes, and so on. These characters look all very familiar to us but they are all colored in green, not the colors we usually come up with. They are still fresh young fruit not yet fully mature with their own colors. Wherever we look around, it is filled with green colors everywhere, but not all things are colored in green, because there are so many colorful fruits along with green leaves. The green things who started running with their moms appear with their own colorful fruits. The team of acorns as a front-runner, and the team of apples closely following the acorn team… The scene of pairs of mangos, tomatoes and tangerines looks even better compared to the green scenes that readers used to see. And this is the expecting moment of these green babies turning into their own mature colors like their moms. These hardworking runners cheer each other and they sometimes get wet by rain, or enjoy the sun. All these green characters are so lovely.
When we look deeply into this sports event among green babies being united, we can discover cute moments here and there. Someone runs in a hurry with a small body not to get caught by others, someone who doesn’t concentrate on cheering, or someone who even falls down to start earlier than others without knowing… We really want to cheer for all these green babies who try to find their own mature colors while getting wet by rain, or getting hot under the sun. This picture book makes readers enjoy playing with these green characters, even if they are the slowest runner in the season of green.

Lee Sun-ok
(English) Lee Sun-ok majored in Cartoon Arts and Literature and works as an illustrator and picture book writer. She illustrated a science picture book in which the little prince appears, because she likes science and the little prince. She was selected as Illustrator of the Year at the 2017 and 2018 Bologna Children's Book Fair for her two picture books, The Opposite Pigs and Red, respectively.
(Japanese) ハンコはなぜ赤色で捺すのだろうか？この疑問が二作目の絵本「赤」を誕生させました。幼いころから私の心の中には数多くの疑問がカケラのように散らばっていました。もしかすると死ぬまでその答えを見つけられないだろうものもたくさんあります。しかし、私にとってこの疑問は大切なものです。たとえ答えを得られなくても、私の心の中で疑問がひとつずつうごめくたびに、また新たな絵本が生まれると信じているからです。
(Vietnamese) Tại sao con dấu lại được có màu đỏ? Sự tò mò này đã dẫn đến sự ra đời của cuốn sách ảnh thứ hai <Red>. Ngay từ khi tác giả còn là một đứa trẻ, rất nhiều câu hỏi đã rải rác như những mảnh vụn trong tim tôi. Có rất nhiều điều có thể cho đến lúc bạn qua đời cũng sẽ không được giải đáp nhưng tác giả đánh giá cao những điều này. Ngay cả khi không nhận được câu trả lời, tác giả tin rằng khi một ngày nào đó, một câu hỏi đặt ra trong tâm tưởng và một cuốn sách ảnh mới có thể lại ra đời.
(Russian) Художник-иллюстратор Ли Сунок изучала литературу и исскуство карикатуры и сейчас занимается созданием иллюстрированных книг для детей. Она любит науку и «Маленького принца», поэтому проиллюстрировала книгу по науке, персонажем которой является Маленький принц. Среди оригинальных произведений автора – иллюстрированные книги «Свинья – не свинья» и «Красный», за которые она была удостоена титула «Иллюстратор года» на Международной ярмарке детской книги в Болонье в 2017 и в 2018 годах.
(French) En tant qu’illustratrice et écrivaine, elle illustre les albums de science où le petit prince paraît parce qu’elle aime la science et le petit prince. Ses albums créatifs, cochons opposés et Rouge ont été mentionnés en étant sélectionnés en tant qu’illustrateur de l’année 2017 et 2018 aux prix Bologna.
