Book Intro

The funniest story about sweet potatoes in the world!
The cover of the book already makes us laugh! The rugged look of the vegetable that can’t be found in a neat and handsome food lets us open up our heart. A Sweet Potato is the title of the book. Even before turning the front cover, the sweet potatoes on it have us anticipate how they will make us giggle.

The author Saida, who had released Rice Cake Stick as her first picture book, sent forth A Sweet Potato, her well-cooked second picture book portraying food. She created this story as the shapes of the sweet potatoes she observed while harvesting them with her children popped into her mind. Now let’s open the first page.

The vine of the sweet potato has grown in clusters. When you pull the long vine upward, the sweet potatoes in various shapes are raising their heads. It’s time for them to say hello.

‘I’m a round sweet potato.’ ‘I’m a long sweet potato.’ ‘I’m a big one.’ ‘I’m a small one.’

As you turn the pages, you realize the shapes of the sweet potatoes are so funny. When you follow them saying round, long, big, and small, your mouth feels piquant as if while eating a popping candy. The next page will make you burst into laughter no matter how hard you resist.
