The author candidly shares the stories of having open talks with boys while teaching a Korean language class at a juvenile reformatory for one year in 2019. The author taught the Korean language to seven boys at most and one boy at least for two hours, once a week.
The boys get excited about the coming of a writer whose book they enjoyed and realized that they are the "readers" of the book. Through the meetup with the author, they undergo the experience of welcoming a person with hospitality, the experience of participating in an activity as the main agent, the practice of not isolating oneself or others, and the practice of feeling a person's warmth. Trust is built between the one learning and the one teaching, and the boys and the author pass through the time of waiting, excitement, nervousness, and gaiety together.
