A Film Debuts Twice is a compilation of film reviews by film critic Lee Dong-jin from the past 20 years, starting with Velvet Goldmine released in 1999 to Parasite released in 2019. It contains 208 reviews spanning his 20-year career, including new reviews written specifically for this book. Going back in time from 2019 to 1999, this book looks back on Lee's 20 years of reviewing films, as well as 20 years of the film industry and the movie-going public.
The book reconstructs 208 reviews that were separated by time into a single chronology, allowing readers to turn to any page and naturally follow the timeline backwards and forwards to see the quilt of time woven together through cinema. Many people can watch the same movie, but each will have seen their own movie. While reading this book, readers will become acquainted with the films seen by the author and be reminded of the films they themselves saw. This is how a film debuts twice.

Lee Dong-jin
Lee Dong-jin is a film critic. There was no great, dramatic moment during his youth at which point he decided to make cinema his life. Cinema still found him, however, and he has been with it for many years. He lives his life and lives it once again through cinema. He wants nothing more than to "touch" movies.
Lee's books include Walking through Films, Lee Dong-jin's Boomerang Interviews: The Secrets, Daydreaming on the Road, A Book at Night, Lee Dong-jin's Boomerang Interviews: The Time, and Lee Dong-jin's Make Reading Fun. In addition, he co-authored The Novels We Loved and Books Asking Questions with Kim Jung-hyeok.
