This picture book is mainly based on the life of one person, and the writer introduces the food setting with genuine heart to memorize and commemorate the important events – from a setting to pray to ‘Three Gods governing childbirth’ for a newborn baby to a setting to say good-bye and to commemorate dead people. However, there are other food settings other than settings for unique moments in lifetime. In this story, there are also the food setting to celebrate completion of a study book and simple and ordinary but loving dinner set by a mother, because all the food settings contain somebody’s genuine heart and love. This book is about the story of the rite of passage in our life as well as the story of all of us who succeed in managing many events in our life thanks to the love in warm food setting.

Kim Soyeon
Kim Soyeon received The Grand Prize at The 11th Changbi Good Children’s Book for Creative Writing for her book Myunghye in 2007. Recently, she wrote the picture book Heartful Table and the youth short story Standing in the Square.
Many of Kim So-yeon’s works have been praised for weaving literature with historical and traditional cultural elements. Recently, she has expanded her literary spectrum into science fiction. Kim looks active and strong-minded, but she is actually shy and timid, just like Seung-Ah, a character in A Quarantined Child. In 2005, Kim received the grand prize with her novella Kkotsin at the Children’s Story Contest by the monthly magazine Children’s Hill. Since publishing in 2007 the full-length historical novels Myeong-Hye and Kkotsin, Kim has steadfastly written novels for children and young adults. Her works include children’s stories, such as “My Deskmate’s Secret,” and young adult novels, such as Seung-Ah’s Trouble, A Quarantined Child (co-written), Time Slip 2120, A Savage Street, Good-Bye Joseon, Standing in the Square (co-written), and Addicted to Robot (co-written). Kim Dongsung
Kim Dongsung (M) majored in Oriental Painting at Hongik University. His representative picture book, Waiting for Mom, received the Korea Baeksang Publishing Culture Award by the Hankook Ilbo. His other books include Thinking of Oppa, Flower-Print Shoes, Wild Flower Child and Echo.
