The picture book of ‘Fight over Water’ written by Jeon Mi Hwa is now finally published. This book makes readers even more excited since this writer is good at her own story telling by showing her own personality. From the hats of farmers looking at exploding sunlight, readers can easily feel the energy of the farmlands. This book, ‘Fight over Water’, describing the reality without distortion and strongly with picture book language is a sort of the first book to deal with ‘fight over water’, which may never been a material in other stories. Literally, it is a terrible drought. Young rice plants begin burning up under the hot sunlight, and even wild flowers lose their energy. Farmers protect their own fields with their hotter eyes than the sun. Even if they stare at each other, and even if they gently bump into each other, they start fighting. This fierce fight over water to survive their own field by collecting water…. This picture book shows this reality without any distortion. The unique illustration style of this writer plays important role in this book again. Vivid colors presented by brush touch without hesitation well describe the unique emotion of the farmland itself.
